As the post title suggests, it hasn't been the most eventful of weeks, but judging by the backlog of exciting posts in the recent past, I guess it was only a matter of time before a slow week showed up. I took advantage of that to send out some marketing emails and get some stuff crossed off my to-do list, but there is still a little bit of audio stuff to report. Let's get started. Firstly, a little bit of my week was spent working on Tales of Zale Episode 2, sorting some dialogue resyncing and going through lip-sync and animation testing with Sif, the director (as well as mixing in additional voices). There's unfortunately not much I'm allowed to say about it at the moment, but I did get to see the first draft of the completed animation (minus a few little corrections to do) and it looks glorious! Sound design from what I've heard seems to be well on its way too, so I should be properly stuck into the mixing in the near future! I'll hopefully have more to report by the next update, but it's going well certainly. Next and finally, "Undead Education" from the Better Than The Book "Two Years On" album went up for streaming on the BTTB YouTube Channel this week, and the next of the Charlotte's Web Orchestral Commissions "We've Got Lot's In Common" went up on YouTube too. Feel free to listen to those below and subscribe to the relevant channels to hear more! More videos to come weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays until mid-May so stay tuned! That's about it for this week (I told you there wasn't much to tell). There'll be no update either as I'm away for the Easter weekend, so the next update will be at the beginning of April, just before I have to start thinking about doing my taxes again (Horray!). I'll hopefully have more to report by then, and I KNOW that April is going to be a busy and hectic month, so there'll definitely be more substantial updates to look forward to. Until then, Happy Easter, hope you all have a good 2 weeks and thanks as always for supporting JabunAudio. Take care!

It's been a turbo exciting week for JabunAudio, Better Than The Book, and A P O T H E O S I S, and there is much amazing news to celebrate and share today! Let's get straight to it!
Firstly, and I cannot expressed how stoked I am with this, but Better Than The Book was broadcast live ON PUBLIC RADIO not once but MULTIPLE TIMES with different tracks over the last 2 weeks (confirmed tracks include "Hearts Racing" and "Cathode Ray Days"). Not only that but the station that broadcast it "Request Live on WPGU 107.1FM" which is based in the USA, named BTTB as "Undiscovered Band of the Week" and even made a lovely facebook post you can read here promoting both the "band" and the "Two Years On" album. Big thanks to 107.1FM for the support and radioplay! Although I was unable to tune in, it was great to read the set-list for the shows and see BTTB playing alongside songs I know and love. Such an amazing feeling! In other BTTB news, "Hearts Racing" is now streaming on YouTube, so feel free to head over to the BTTB Channel to listen to that and more! Strangely enough, I've been very inspired this week with regards BTTB writing (and metal for some reason), and have recorded some more snippets and lyric ideas since the last update. Looking at the list of song ideas, there's probably enough there that I COULD actually get started on a new BTTB album right now! Perhaps not quite yet though (I'd like to write some electronic music to refresh myself), but certainly more BTTB is a definite for future projects (and maybe sooner than previously thought too)! Stay tuned for more news on that later, and keep up to date with Better Than The Book news on Facebook and Twitter. Next on the agenda for this week, this morning I finished the music for Level 2 of the upcoming game A P O T H E O S I S! Super pleased with this one (great to be composing for this game again), and it features some aggressive funky slap bass courtesy of my Sterling SB14 and homemade superfuzz distortion pedal, as well as some smooth Moog Prodigy (emulator) sync leads and the usual orchestral and cinematic ambiance! Feel free to have a listen below and I hope you dig it: As well as that, a new and updated free demo for A P O T H E O S I S came out this week too, and while there are still a few little bugs to sort out, the game is bigger, better, more challenging, more additive, and more exciting than ever! New monsters, more challenges and new bosses! If you get a chance, I highly recommend checking it out. Feel free to download it for free from the A P O T H E O S I S website, and follow the game's development on Facebook and Twitter. Lastly for this week, the Orchestral Arrangements commission I was working on for the Californian Theater group has been approved and finished. There are 10 pieces in total, which I'll be streaming on Thursdays on the HurpADervish YouTube Channel, all of which are instrumental remakes of songs from the animated film "Charlotte's Web" (1973). Unlike some of the other remakes I've made, these were adapted specifically for the performance group and so have some changes from the original scores, including abridging, changes to instrumentation, tempo and key as well some overemphasis on certain parts such as percussion cues for the choreography. Nevertheless I hope you enjoy them, and here to start you off for the first week is "Mother Earth and Father Time". That's about everything to report for this week, but boy has it been an exciting week! Composing for A P O T H E O S I S Level 3 (or other parts) probably won't be for a while (I haven't even seen Level 2 yet) so I'm not entirely sure what'll be going on next week. It should be time soon to get back to mixing the new Tales of Zale Episodes, but we shall see how the sound design is going. In the mean time, I'll have plenty of marketing and promo stuff to get on with! More tracks to appear on YouTube next week and hopefully more radio-play too! I wonder what else'll happen? We'll have to wait and see, but for now, thank you as always for supporting JabunAudio and have a good week. Take care! Apologies for last week's unscheduled lack of update. This was due to spring cleaning / rearranging which took a lot longer than I thought it would... On the plus side though, everything is nice and clean now, all the junk has been sorted for selling, giving away or throwing away, and while there are a few bits of rearranging I'm still considering, I'm happy with the current results. A clean and tidy work space helps enable a more productive and creative mind... or so the theory goes! Anyways, enough of that, let's get started with the real news:
Firstly, Better Than The Book's track by track streaming of Two Years On has started on the BTTB YouTube Channel! Earlier this week though, the channel seemed to be having some technical issues, and while the videos were watchable and would appear on your subscription feeds etc..., the channel video list itself seemed to contain no videos at all (not even the old ones), which was very peculiar. I've since been in contact with YouTube tech support though and the channel seems to be all fine and dandy again. Feel free to listen to "Ignition" and "Homecoming" on YouTube (and subscribe to keep up to date), or you can head to bandcamp for the full album experience and to pick up a copy. Next, I've been working hard on the new "Tales of Zale" animations with Hikarian this week, and now all the dialogue is cleaned up, (mostly) mixed, and ready when the time comes to be blended in with the sound effects, music and any other audio. It's all going nicely on track, and while I can't reveal anything about project release dates or anything, I can tell you that it's looking really REALLY awesome! Expect nothing less from Hikarian! I'm soo happy to be a part of it! Next and currently on the plate for work, I've received more word about A P O T H E O S I S 's development, and the time has come to compose the music for Level 2! It's been a while but I have my briefs now and my brain and distorted bass are just about ready for action! I'll hopefully have something to show for it later on this month, but if you can't wait (or even if you can), please go and check out the free to download public demo and spread the word! It's gonna be awesome (and addictive)! Lastly, the orchestral work I've been doing is coming to a close soon so I'll hopefully be streaming that on YouTube soon (it's just the final checks to be approved). More news on that once the project is finished, but as I mentioned before, that'll be streaming on the HurpADervish YouTube Channel when it's complete. That's about it for this week. Next week's set to be a continuation of all of the above in some way, but almost certainly focusing on the A P O T H E O S I S Level 2 music. Not sure if I'll have anything to show you by the next update, but it certainly shan't be too long. For now, though, that's me signing off for this week, so many thanks for reading and supporting JabunAudio and I'll be back next weekend for another update. Take care! |
