Week 4 out of 10 of the Blink-182 covers: a very special version of 'Josie' + more updates!30/11/2017 Hello all! It's been a similar week to the last few, busy trying to get my to-do list crossed off as best I can before the end of the year, including some Better Than The Book lyric writing, preparing for the Christmas break (more details on that soon), as well as some other stuff like FINALLY fixing that wonky acoustic panel which has been bugging me for a while! I've also been busy helping World Beyond with the upcoming album for which I recorded lots of guitar and bass, which has been really exciting! Still no ETA for that, but it's in the mixing stage at the moment and is sounding awesome so hopefully it shouldn't be too long. Not much else to report this week so let's go straight to the main topic: the 4th of the Blink-182 covers! In case you've missed the last 3 weeks of these, the long story short is that I've been recording some covers of Blink-182 songs to celebrate 4 wonderful years with my girlfriend Eva, and this week we have an extra special cover of the classic track "Josie" from the Dude Ranch album! You'll notice that the cover is titled "Eva [Josie]" because I've changed some of the lyrics to better reflect Eva and I's own situation and I'm really pleased with the way this one turned out! Next week will be the last full cover before we move onto instrumental versions of each of the tracks, but until then I hope you enjoy "Eva [Josie]" and feel free to leave a comment here or on YouTube if you'd like to share your thought! And that about wraps things up for this week. It's undoubtedly going to be another week of similar things for me, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless. Tune in next week for the final full Blink-182 cover "All The Small Things", before we move onto the instrumental versions over the following month, and until then I hope you have a great week whatever you're up to. Thanks as always for supporting JabunAudio and my other projects and see you next Thursday. Take care!

Week 3 out of 10 of the Blink-182 covers, 10 MILLION views for The Dinosaur Alphabet + more updates!23/11/2017 Hope you've all had a great time since the last blog post. It's been a bit of an "if it can go wrong, it will go wrong" time lately behind the scenes, but I tentatively think things are finally starting to get back on track. A couple of cool things to share and report this week as you can probably see by the blog post title, and we'll get into those in just a second. Other than that things have been slowly progressing on other things such as the Better Than The Book lyric sheets (still 4 to finish, but they're closer than last week), though at the moment, it seems like a grand task of time management Tetris trying to fit in everything I want to sort out before closing up for the Christmas and New Years break (with various unexpected mishaps stalling things more). Hopefully things will be back on track very soon, and without waffling on anymore, let's get into the main news for this week! As is becoming the norm lately, another Blink-182 cover in celebration of 4 years with my lovely girlfriend Eva went up on YouTube yesterday. This week is number 3 of 10 in this little series and today I'm happy to present to you "Wasting Time" another oldschool track from Blink-182's debut album. Hope you enjoy it, feel free to share your thoughts and stay tuned next week for an extra special cover of "Josie" (you'll see what I mean). Take care until then, and here's "Wasting Time": Next and finally this week, a slightly belated but incredibly well deserved celebration for the first animation audio project I was involved in, Fun Station 4 Kids' "Dinosaur Alphabet Song" which surpassed a whopping 10 MILLION views earlier this month! I honestly have no words to express how awesome it is to say that, and a huge congratulations to FS4Ks' writer, animator, voice guy and head honcho, Anthony, on this amazing achievement. It might be a while until we see another adventure with our lovable T-Rex and friends, but please support Anthony by checking out his other amazing animations on the Fun Station 4 Kids channel. If you've yet to see the animation at hand, feel free to watch below and I hope you enjoy it! I'm sure it won't be too long until I'll be celebrating another milestone with these guys, so keep up to date for more fun videos on the blog soon! And that about wraps things up for this week. Next week's looking to be much of the same as this one, but hopefully with less disruptions and more productions! Stay tuned for the next blog post which'll have a very special cover of Blink-182's "Josie" and some more updates I'm sure, and until then, thanks as always for supporting JabunAudio and my other projects. I hope you have a fantastic week whatever you're up to, see you next time and take care! Hello everyone! Hope you've all had a great week and are enjoying the current stream of Blink-182 covers on YouTube. Due to various reasons, I unfortunately haven't been able to get much audio work done this week, but every cloud has a silver lining and so, I've spent a lot of this down time working on writing for the upcoming Better Than The Book album instead. Just 2 pieces of news to report this week, so let's come back to BTTB in a moment and start off by introducing this week's addition to the Blink-182 covers stream. Here we go! On Wednesday, the second of ten Blink-182 covers I recorded went up on the HurpADervish YouTube channel, and this week I'm super excited to present to you some oldschool pop-punk in the form of "M+M's"! As a reminder of why the sudden YouTube video series, this has all been in celebration of 4 years with my wonderful Girlfriend Eva, and M+M's is definitely one of our favorites! Anyways, I think the video will speak for itself so I'll stop talking for now, but be sure to check in again next week for track 3 "Wasting Time" and I hope you this rendition of "M+M's"! Next and lastly this week, some updates on the new Better Than The Book album. As I'm sure I've already said, I'm currently in the writing stages for this project, more specifically focusing on lyrics, structuring out the track, chord progressions, melodies etc... As of last week it was only 4 tracks left to finish lyrically, but it reality, it was more like: 2 completely structured and most of the instrumental work done but with only partial lyrics, one with very few lyrics and a not quite complete structure, and a final one which was pretty much just some jumbled notes and concepts & riffs but no concrete anything. Well after much deliberation, I decided to put that last track on hold and try pursuing a different song idea instead, which was more of a back-up track if the total album length wasn't fulfilled (over 30 minutes), and I'm so glad I did! Don't you just love it when everything seems to fall into place flawlessly and effortlessly? Months of frustration with the previous track, and within 2 days, this new track was fully structured, had all but a few lines of vocals left, and I was actually super happy with everything. Not only that, but working on that track kicked off my inspiration for the other tracks and while there's still 4 tracks left to finish, the current situation on them all is: 2 tracks almost fully instrumented and only requiring verse lyrics (some partial stuff there), another fully structured now with only some verse and prechorus lyrics to fill in, and this new one which is fully structured and only 5 lines of verses to write! All in all an incredibly productive week in the BTTB writing department, and I think I should be able to make my target of having the entire album written by the end of the year, ready to start recording in 2018! Oh and one final note, my rough song length demos are clocking this album in at about 38 minutes as it currently stands! Hope you're as pumped to hear it as I am to record it and I'll keep you updated with how everything goes as and when! And that about wraps things up for this week. What's in store for next week (apart from the new Blink-182 cover)? Well, I'll be writing more BTTB while the inspirational juices are flowing and I'm unable to get back to other work, but I hope to be back to the usual stuff by the beginning of next week. Other than that, I'll see how things go and act accordingly! Until then, hope you enjoy the latest Blink-182 cover, thanks as always for supporting JabunAudio and my other projects, and see you in the next blog post. Hope you have a great week and take care! Hello everyone and I hope you're as excited today as I am to be writing/sharing this! Not a lot that I can report on actual audio work this week (though it's been busy nonetheless), but I'm super excited to share with you the first of ten videos in the latest streaming series on the HurpADervish YouTube Channel. Let's get started: As mentioned last week, on Wednesdays from yesterday until mid January (10 weeks), I'll be streaming a collection of Blink 182 covers I recorded to celebrate 4 amazing years with my girlfriend Eva. You can read more about it in the description of the videos as well as in last week's blog post, but all you need to really know is that yesterday, the first track, "First Date" went up yesterday. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it and, and please let me know your thoughts if you wish. Next week will be some very oldschool Blink 182, "M+M's", so stick around if you want to hear that and without any further wait, here's "First Date"! That's about all I can report this week, but stay tuned in the next few weeks for more news and videos! One quick piece of news actually, the ancient temple gods of A P O T H E O S I S (Well, the development team) have summoned me once again to work on the soundtrack which I'm super excited for. This'll likely be at the start of the new year though, so it's an early notification for busy times to come. Looking forward to it, and feel free to play the game demo and listen to my current work on the soundtrack in the mean time. As for what's to come next week, I'm likely to be busy on various things in the lead-up to the Christmas period, but other than that, we shall see where the tides take me. Until then, hope you have a great week, thanks as always for supporting JabunAudio and my other projects and see you next week for "M+M's" and the next blog post. Take care! Hello everyone and I hope you didn't miss me too much last week. The past fortnight has mostly been spent back in my hometown having fun and making the most of being there, but now that I'm back, things should return to the usual schedule until the Christmas break. In case you missed the quick update post on Facebook last week, here's a summary of that + some more updates on what's been happening since then. I must admit that I've not been back long enough to have done much audio work at all, but there's some things I'm really excited to share with you starting next week, so hopefully that makes up for it. With all that said, let's get started on the JabunAudio news for this week! So as previously mentioned, most of the last fortnight was spent back in my hometown and of course I didn't have my studio equipment there, so I wasn't able to do any "proper" audio work. I did however spend some time recording some rough demos for the new Better Than The Book album, as well as working on the 4 unfinished lyrics sheets (none completed, but a fair amount of progress made). Mostly though, I was making the most of being back which meant playing a lot of cello, saxaflute, balalaika, acoustic piano, jazz bass through my BIG gigging amp, as well as some electric guitar, acoustic 12-string, and doing a crazy amount of singing. Fun times! I must admits that it saddens me that I can't bring all this stuff to the studio with me, but at the same time, if I took everything then I'd have nothing to do when I visited, so it's a good balance! Away from my own music, I also went to see the Australian Pink Floyd Tribute Band for the 4th time (Playing Dark Side of the Moon and then some), which was simply spectacular as always, visited good friends, and celebrated my Grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary with the family which was really nice. All in all a great and much needed trip, and I'll be back again no doubt for Christmas too which I'm sure will be fun! Lastly this week, I'm really excited to finally be able to share with you a project which I poured my heart and skills into this summer. Cutting a long story short, to commemorate 4 years with my lovely girlfriend Eva, I decided to record her a 5 track covers EP of Blink 182 songs which remind me of her, and after hearing lots of positive feedback on it, I figured I’d upload it to YouTube for everyone to listen to (with her permission of course!). Everything you'll hear is pitch correction and time stretching free for an honest performance from one heart to another (not that I have anything against those tools), and I really think it's my best pop-punk production/recording to date. The EP was originally given to her on August 19th 2017, and over the next 10 weeks on Wednesdays (from November 8th 2017 to January 10th 2018), I’ll be uploading each of the songs followed by an off-vocal version. The track schedule will be as follows: 08/11/2017 - 01 First Date 15/11/2017 - 02 M+M’s 22/11/2017 - 03 Wasting Time 29/11/2017 - 04 Eva [Josie] (I’ve messed with the lyrics of this one to make it suit us better) 06/12/2017 - 05 All The Small Things 13/12/2017 - 06 First Date [Instrumental] 20/12/2017 - 07 M+M’s [Instrumental] 27/12/2017 - 08 Wasting Time [Instrumental] 03/01/2018 - 09 Eva [Josie] [Instrumental] 10/01/2018 - 10 All The Small Things [Instrumental] A big thanks to Eva for letting me share these with you, and I hope this ties your pop-punk/skate-punk needs over until the new Better Than The Book album is completed! [Fun fact: this is actually the 2nd EP of cover songs I've recorded for Eva! The 1st (from 2014) I've yet to release to the public (maybe in the future?), but you can hear snippets from it in the JabunAudio Mastering Demo Reel 2015! What do you think? Shall I release it? It's a little dated now, as well as a bit more raw. I'll think about it... I'm still very happy with how it turned out back then]
And that's about it for this week! I'll be aiming to get started on some new projects as well as working a bit on the new BTTB album over the next 7 days and we'll see how things go from there. Be sure to keep an eye on the HurpADervish YouTube and JabunAudio Facebook page for the Blink 182 covers starting next Wednesday and thanks as always for supporting JabunAudio and all my projects. Hope you have a great week and take care! |
