Hi again everyone, and crazy to think it's been 5 weeks of unplanned downtime since the last update! Apologies for this unexpected situation which I'll explain shortly and hope you've all been well since we last spoke. There's still a fair amount of the usual news to share (and some exciting news it is too!) but first I feel I must explain my absence and the unplanned closure of JabunAudio over the last few weeks. As I always say: Let's get to it! As mentioned in the previous blog post, JabunAudio relocated to Rotherham just over a month ago and while the move went smoothly, a new studio was set up very nicely, and I've been ready to work for over 2 weeks now, one thing has been a constant problem since the move: the internet connection. I've tried my best to keep you all updated on the situation via weekly Facebook posts on the JabunAudio page, but to expand here, the connection since moving has averaged a download speed of about 0.03Mbps (compared to the 16Mbps I'm using as I type this while visiting my hometown and family). Not only has it been unbearably slow but also intermittent, so much so that I've barely been able to check emails, let alone upload files or even load this website to write the weekly blog post. On top of that the customer service from the internet provided has been incredibly unhelpful and barely improved the connection if at all after multiple attempts at sorting the situation. Finally an engineer is scheduled to visit this coming Tuesday so I really hope it'll be sorted then. JabunAudio's remote audio production services rely on a stable and fast internet connection so if things aren't fixed, I might be facing big problems for the future of this little company (let's not think about that though and try to remain positive). I really hope it's all sorted soon. Anyways though, onto positive news, the new studio has been set up for about 2 weeks now and is working a dream at the moment. I'll save the picture sharing, new demo reel, and explanation of the new features for when JabunAudio opens for business again, but while there has been no internet to distract me or allow me to work on client tasks, I've been putting the space to good use working intensely on a new Better Than The Book album! It's CRAZY how productive things can be when you literally have nothing else to do, so since starting the album only a month or so ago I've now recorded 25 minutes / 7 tracks work of rough demos for the new material! These are at the very least to the point where they're structured and able to strum and hum along to mumbling a few of the lyrics, but some tracks are pretty much fully fledged instrumentals or fully lyrical already! Exciting times! I'm still aiming for 10+ tracks and 30-40 minutes of music in total for this album and at the current rate of progress we may be seeing this album released much earlier than the target of summer 2018! We shall see how things go, but anyways, I hope you're ready for more Ska-punk coming soon, I'm already excited to share it with you! Next this week and this news is really about a month overdue, but A P O T H E O S I S (which I'm doing the soundtrack for) just released its first gameplay trailer and a new demo! Fantastic stuff and it's so great to see this come together after years working on the soundtrack. Check out the trailer below and grab a free download of the latest demo too here (It's super fun!). Apparently a theatrical trailer will be coming soon too before the official release of the game so keep an eye out for that. Hope you enjoy the video and if you get a chance to play please leave a comment, I'd love to know your thoughts! Have fun! Next and lastly for this blog post, I've just got 5 weeks worth of videos from the weekly streaming of my debut album as Jabun - Daydream. Thanks so much to everyone for their lovely comments on these tracks and I hope you enjoy each of the new videos shared in this blog post. The lovely visual editing is courtesy of the wonderful Vladimir Kuznetsov of World Beyond, so be sure to send him your love too! Enjoy and stay tuned to my YouTube channel for the next few tracks coming every Thursday. Peace!
That's all the news to share for this week! What's happening next? In honesty, I'm really not sure and it all depends on the outcome of the engineer's visit on Tuesday. I'll aim to keep you all as informed as I can on the situation at the very least via some Facebook posts, but if all goes well, the next blog post (hopefully next week) will be the grand reopening of JabunAudio, introducing the new studio and services and opening the doors again for business! Fingers crossed and we'll have to wait and see. I'll no doubt work a bit more on some BTTB while there's no internet and there's some other cool things in the works at the moment which I'm looking forward to share when I can as well! Anyways, it's been great to finally write another blog post again and I hope you all have a great time until the next one. Thanks as always for supporting JabunAudio and all my projects, take care, and hope to be back soon!
