Another busy week goes by at JabunAudio and there's a whole lot of cool news and stuff to share this time around! Everything's a headline for this blog post, so let's get straight into it! Firstly, some updates on the Jabun album: After sending out a demo cut of the project to my awesome testing team and having received some great feedback, I spent a lot of this past week going through some little tweaks and corrections (mostly minor things like removing pops, clicks and other small errors), and as it currently stands it's veeeeery nearly sorted! 6 out of the 10 tracks have been finalised in the mastering session, and I'm aiming to get the final WAVs for the album exported by the end of this weekend. As hinted in the previous blog post too, at the end of last week I had the awesome opportunity to join Tony Clark on his Chill Vibe Tribe Podcast to give an exclusive sneak peek of the album's 7th track "Palindrome" as well as talk about my inspirations and writing process when composing it. Apart from the Tales of Zale livestreams, this is my first time actually speaking in a recorded interview, so the whole experience was both exciting and a little nerve-racking, but I hope you enjoy the sneak peek of the album and look into how I work. A huge thanks to Tony for inviting me on and being super cool to work with, and feel free to listen to Palindrome, our interview as well as some of Tony's Music HERE on the Chill Vibe Tribe Podcast Episode 6. Hope you enjoy it! And before we leave the Jabun news for this week, with the album's audio so close to completion (I've still yet to sort out the artwork though), I feel it's finally time to unveil the album title: Daydream Release details will be revealed next week so keep you eyes on my Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates on the matter. I can't wait to show this to you all! Next this week, along with doing the tweaks on the Jabun album I've also been busy working with Fun Station 4 Kids on yet another animation (productive times recently)! This one had actually been in the works for quite a while, and it just so happened that the completion of this and 3 Little Raptors and The Beanstalk lined up very closely, hence the 2 animations this month. This week on behalf of the rest of the Fun Station 4 Kids team, I present to you "Humpty Dumpty" as retold by T-Rex and Minisaurus! As usual we have our fine animator and director Anthony Houde providing all the voices, myself doing my usual audio engineering and credits music role, and after a great performance on the previous animation, Vladimir Kuznetsov from World Beyond returns to score the main music for this episode! Hope you enjoy it and without further wait here's Humpy Dumpty as you've never heard / seen it before: I kinda find it a funny coincidence that this came out on the same day as the Ghost in the Shell live-action film too (I'm a huge fan of the franchise). Hehe, You'll see (cue the various puns)! And lastly this week (still on the topic of Fun Station 4 Kids), although I didn't actually have anything to do with the editing / engineering for this, our fine director Anthony has been super busy this week and released this channel trailer for the Fun Station 4 Kids YouTube Channel! It features a ton of the animations I worked on with him and the rest of the team and really sums up what the channel is all about. Feel free to give it a watch below and hope you enjoy all our past work and animations to come! That's about it for this week. Next week's blog post will be the last before a 2 week break for Easter and will feature a formal announcement on the release date for upcoming Jabun album - Daydream so be sure to stop by for this exciting post before the holidays. What's in store for this coming week of work? Well I best knuckle down and get the audio finished for this album and admin and artwork well on the way! It's gonna be a busy one! Until next time, I hope you enjoy the new animations and sneak peek at Daydream / Palindrome and thanks as always for supporting JabunAudio and my other collaborations and projects! Hope you have a good week and see you next Friday for another exciting blog post!

It's been a busy week of mixed emotions here at JabunAudio, and as with every time a big project nears its finale, I've been both excited and anxious to hear people's first thoughts on the work I've poured my everything into (more on that in a second). Along with that, there's been a number of great and less great announcements over the last 7 days which I have to share, so without further wait, lets get to it!
Firstly and most excitingly this week, after a thorough mix and master the first pre-release draft of the new Jabun album (title to be announced soon) was sent out to my elite testing team for feedback. It's been an exciting and anxious time waiting for all their responses, especially as this is my first full-length release as Jabun after over 5 years making music under that name, but I'm super happy to report that the feedback I've received has not only been super positive, but that people have shown a deep connection with the emotions I've worked to convey without lyrics in these instrumental tracks. Not to say that there haven't been a few suggestions for tweaks on the mix etc... (that's what the team is there for), and I'll be getting to those soon, but overall I'm overjoyed with the album's reception and can safely say even in its current state it looks like it's 95% there or more! I'm hoping to get all the audio work finished by the end of the month (depending on when I receive feedback and client work), and as soon as it's all complete and the artwork is done, I'll make a formal announcement of the title and release date here on the blog! Hope you're as excited as I am, and I can't wait to share this project with you very soon! Secondly this week, it is with a heavy heart that I must announce that due to budget cuts on the project, I will shortly be concluding my work on the Yu-Gi-Oh! Season 0 English Dub. It was a fun run while it lasted though, and as things stand my contributions to the project will be featured on episodes 8, 12 & 14. When I was first asked to be on the project, I was assigned 3 episodes, which was later expanded to 5 + the movie, but then recently after further assessment it was put back down to 3 which means that my episodes are all completed now. Don't fret though, just because I've finished working on my episodes, doesn't mean I won't be able to share news on the project, and after my most recent chat with the director, it looks like the first episode will be ready for release very soon! In the mean time, I've still a couple of loose ends to tie up before I can archive the project anyway, so no doubt this won't be the last you hear from me about Yu-Gi-Oh! Looking forward to sharing my work with you soon. Next this week, after polishing off my mixes/masters for the Jabun album, I've been busy working on yet another exciting animation with Fun Station 4 Kids! This one's a little less complicated than our previous animation, and I shan't reveal any details here, but it's going to be a whole lot of fun and features another crazy retelling of a classic children's story. Looking forward to sharing more with you when I can and speaking of our most recent animation, The Three Little Raptors & The Beanstalk just reached a whopping 100,000 views on YouTube, in less than 3 weeks! A huge congratulations to our star team and a big thank you to everyone for their support since its release. Next stop 1,000,000! Finally this week, just a quick announcement on the JabunAudio opening times over the next month. With Easter coming soon, I'll be heading back to my home town soon to visit family and make the most of spending time with everyone down there, so from April 11th to April 26th, I'll be unable to undertake any audio work as I'll be away from the studio. I will however still be available during that time to contact for bookings and sales queries, and will aim to get back to you as quickly as I can during the holiday period. Along with the holiday there'll likely be a two week hiatus for the blog, but I'll make an updated announcement in a few weeks closer to the time. And that about wraps up things for this week! What's next I hear you ask? Well I have some final edits to do on the Jabun album hopefully next week + I'll be busy working on the latest Fun Station 4 Kids animation. An exciting opportunity for Jabun has appeared on the horizon too (which I'll be working on straight after this post), but I'll leave that announcement for another time once it's set in stone. Apart from that, we shall have to see where the wind takes me! Until next week though, I hope you all have a great one and thanks as always for supporting JabunAudio! Looking forward to sharing the new projects with you soon, and take care! It's been another busy week at JabunAudio, though it's been much more chill now that I'm back to working on the Jabun album (more on that later). The start of the week was spent finishing off episode 14 of Yu-Gi-Oh! which now puts me as far ahead in the production schedule as I can be while I wait for more news and material to work on. Hopefully should be able to share something with you in the not too distant future. Anyhow, before I get onto the Jabun album updates, I'd like to take a moment to celebrate the awesome reception of last week's animation! Let's get to it! As you may know, Fun Station 4 Kids' latest animation (released just over a week ago), "The Three Little Raptors and The Beanstalk", was a huge and long overdue project featuring a whole team of talented people giving this animation their all, and I'm so happy to report that the initial reception of this animation has been phenomenal! On behalf of the whole team, I'd like to say a huge thanks to everyone who's showed their support and watched and shared the latest dinosaur adventure, and I'm pleased to report that after less than a week since its release, the new video had already racked up over 30,000 views on YouTube (now it's over 36,000)! Thanks so much for the amazing reception and with any luck, we can hope to see this animation reach the 6,000,000+ views that the first episode had in the not too distant future! If you've yet to see the latest dinosaur adventure, feel free to check it out below along with a silly commemorative poster to celebrate out 9001st view (heheh)! Hope you enjoy it and thanks again! Next and lastly on the news this week, after finishing off Yu-Gi-Oh! Episode 14 and after about 6 weeks since I last heard it, I'm back to working on the debut Jabun album! To summarise where I left off in early February, I'd just finished the writing and recording process for the album, and this week it's been a case of getting the mixes finalised before a thorough mastering and getting everything sounding the best it can be. I'm very happy to say that it's currently going relatively smoothly and with any luck I should hopefully have the audio ready to send out to the beta testing team by this time next week! I have to say, listening to it all after these 6 weeks with a fresh set of ears has given me some perspective. There's moments in the album which I'd completely forgotten about, other bits where I thought "Dang, I've gotta fix that!", and other places where I thought it'd need a lot of work, but it just seemed to fall into place easily. Most of all though, even after those 6 weeks, I still feel every little piece of emotion which went into each track, and I'm so happy (even with a little work left to go) with how everything's sounding. I really can't wait to share this adventure with you, and with almost 5 years releasing music as Jabun to my name, this album is long overdue! If you can't wait to hear it, check out the teaser I released at the end of last year below (things have changed a bit since then), and I hope you're as excited as I am to go on this musical journey with me! Enjoy and I look forward to sharing more updates soon! That's about it for this week! Next week, I'll hopefully be finishing up the first cut of the album ready for the testing team + I'd like to start getting the admin stuff for the release done if I can. I also NEED (strong word?) to give the latest A P O T H E O S I S demo another go (obligatory plug and free download link!). I've still yet to meet the new bosses and I was so busy when it first came out, that I didn't manage to play much, although what I did get to play was awesome! Ahem... anyway, gaming cravings aside, I'm looking forward to sharing more news on the Jabun album next week at the very least and thank you all so much as always for supporting JabunAudio and all my projects! See you again next Friday with some more updates and hope you have a great week until then! Take care!
It's been yet another super busy week working mainly on the fantastic new animation from Fun Station for Kids (more on that below)! I did however have my first proper day off in a LONG time on Thursday which was spent with my significant other Eva at the cinema watching Logan (followed by lots of sobbing). What an amazing film! Brutal, heart-wrenching, surprisingly gory. I won't spoil anything, but I can definitely say it was the best of the Wolverine films, maybe even the best of all the X-men films. Those who know me well, know I'm a keen superhero film fanatic (film fanatic in general), but this was an amazing film even outside the genre. It wasn't explosions and heroics, it was more a drama and heartwarming tale of two old men trying to do the right thing, and by lord I don't think they could have done it better! Bravo to Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Dafne Keen, as well as everyone else involved with the film, and what brilliant sign off for Jackman's 17 year run as our beloved Wolverine! Well done all!
Anyway, back to the real news for this week (before I start crying again!), there're 2 main things to share, which I'll get onto in a moment, but other than that, there's been a little more work on Yu-Gi-Oh! Episode 14 which should be all finished by this time next week + I've done some clearing up on the website, removing broken videos, bad embeds, etc... I still need to really do a proper overhaul at some point, as it feels a little cluttered / dated, but that can wait until I have some decent down time. Right! Enough chitchat, lets get on to the main attraction(s) for this week! Firstly, after over 2 years since the first episode, and lots and lots of hard work, development and growth, Fun Station 4 Kids finally releases "The Three Little Raptors & The Beanstalk"! I cannot tell you how happy and excited I am to share with you this animation as I've been following the behind the scenes development of it for a long time, and have seen all the hard work which has gone into it. Not only that, but it holds a special place in my heart as the sequel to the very first animation I did audio post-production for "The Three Little Raptors & The Big Bad Tyrannosaurus Rex", which to this day has racked up over 6 MILLION views on YouTube! Not only that, but as well as Anthony Houde's amazing 2.75d animation style, writing, and usual Narrator and T-Rex voices, we also see the return of Sheila M. Lin and Evan Bremer reprising their roles as Tiny and the Parrot, and Whiny and Spiny respectively! This episode for me was made extra special by the addition of a new crew member, my good friend and collaborator Vladimir Kuznetsov of World Beyond who composed the fantastic original score for this animation. As usual I was helping out with the sound design, foley and twiddling all the knobs and faders to create the final audio mix, as well as providing the credits music (always great fun!). The animation has already racked up almost 5000 views with not even 48 hours since its release (the fastest start to any of the Fun Station 4 Kids animations!) so here to hoping this animation becomes as popular or even more than its predecessor, and brings a smile to even more children around the world! Without further wait and behalf of the whole team, I present to you "The Three Little Raptors & The Bean Stalk":
And be sure to follow Fun Station 4 Kids on YouTube for more amazing animations in the future! I know there is still at least one left half finished in the production queue so I look forward to working on that soon!
Next and finally this week, we move on to some updates from one the gaming projects I'm doing the soundtrack for: A P O T H E O S I S! It's been a steady production for this bullet hell adventure over the last few years, and developer Lars Warink has released yet another amazing demo for Demo Day 13! In his own words, the new demo adds some new items, boss fights, rooms, and some updated graphics and bug fixes, and having played it myself, I can safely say it's a step up from the previous demo and great fun to play! Be sure to follow the game's development on twitter, and grab a free download of the demo from the A P O T H E O S I S development site too! There's not much I can embed here for the game itself so here's a playlist of all the music I've composed for it so far! Looking forward to the next demo and composing the next piece, and hope you enjoy it! And that's about it for this week! What's next? Well, first things first for me is finishing off Yu-Gi-Oh! Episode 14 then we'll have to see what happens next. If possible, I'd like to take some down-time to finish off the Jabun album, as I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to work in it for almost 6 weeks! Looking forward to that and we'll see if any other cool opportunities pop up on the radar in the mean time (they always do!) Until next time then, I hope you enjoy the new animation and game demo and thank you all so much for supporting JabunAudio and the other projects I work on. Hope you all have a great week and be back again next Friday with another dose of news! Take care! |
