Merry Christmas everyone and hope you all had a great few days. It's been a fairly relaxed week with family, so nothing much to report work-wise. Since it's the last post of the year, I thought it'd be nice to give a throwback to the past, and reflect on one of the projects which got me properly started in audio production. It'll always hold a special place in my heart. This week in 2012 saw the release of my first ever EP "One Small Step" under the name Better Than The Book. Only after that EP, did my music production career really kick off and this year has been a great one for me, even better than the last. The EP and the Better Than The Book project mean a lot to me and I aim to get back to it in 2015 for another EP, or at least a few single tracks. There's a lot of pent up Ska/pop-punk in my veins to be let out! In the mean time, I hope you enjoy the current Better Than The Book discography. Onto other things, another cool occurrence happened this week when "The Best Pokemon" was awarded weekly first place (most popular) video on Newgrounds! Pretty awesome! I also exceeded 50 followers on Newgrounds too which is crazy cool! Many thanks to everyone for supporting me and hope you enjoy all past the projects as well as what's to come. This next week looks to be catching up on the NuBits animation (lots to do), then of course New Years festivities for which I have no idea what I'm doing! Whatever it is, I hope you all have a great New Years also and see you all in 2015! It's been a great year! Happy Holidays Everyone, Jabun

I thought it'd be a quiet week audio-wise, with just a few NuBits tweaks and nothing else to report, but such as life is, I've so much more to share this week than expected! Let's get started. For starters, "The Best Pokemon" animation by Jacob Diesels for which I did most of the music has surpassed 25,000 views in the first 2 weeks! Pretty crazy! It was also awarded daily 2nd Place on Newgrounds and given a front page spot! Excellent! If you haven't seen it already, feel free to check it out below: I've also made the music I made for it free to download from Soundcloud and Newgrounds. Enjoy! Also if anyone's interested, I made another piece which was cut from the animation due to time constraints. In the original script there was a cheery massacre scene before the credits, with the following piece playing in the background. Not sure if enjoy is the right word here, but I hope it brings a (maniacal) smile to your face! Onto, more exciting news, I got a message from Vlad (Creator of World Beyond) this morning, and our Dragon Age: Inquisition inspired composition and video "Whatever We Were Before" has been spotlighted on the OFFICIAL DRAGON AGE WEBSITE!!!! AWESOME!!! If you haven't seen it yet, check it out below for some great music and video editing: Finally, I just wanted to share another World Beyond Piece which I just helped with the lyric translation for. It's the first time I've heard Vlad singing in one of his compositions and I definitely think he should do it more often! Awesome narration voice too, and right in the feels! Great job, Sir! I think that's it for this week. Not sure how much I'll be getting done next week in between all the festivities, but I'll be sure to post something for you all next Saturday. Have a great week and Merry Christmas! Hope you all have a great one and take care!
The new Pokemon parody animation by Jacob Diesel is out: "The Best Pokemon"! I created the orchestral arrangements of the Route 01 and Trainer Battle themes, and the glitched out Victory theme before the credits music. Check out Jacob's other works on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr. Hope you enjoy the animation! The >20k views in the first week alone should speak for its awesomeness! Other than this, it's just been NuBits work for me this week. One scene left to animate, so should be out soon? I've still a mighty load of sound effects and post-production to do though, so early next year sounds like a reasonable ETA. We shall see! Until next week. Enjoy the animation and music and take care! Not much interesting to report this week. A little NuBits sound effects here, some Tales of Zale discussion there. Nothing release-worthy as of yet. What I have done this week though is update the site with all the new media and links (mainly the A P O T H E O S I S tracks). The next few weeks leading up to Christmas and the New Year seem especially busy both with audio work as well as other things in my life, but I hope to be able to keep the weekly blog going, and pick up on projects come 2015. The week ahead will be focused mainly on the NuBits animation.
Thanks for stopping by. More updates next Saturday! |
