100 followers on Newgrounds, BTTB updates: 3 Tracks finished! + Winning a drum competition?!30/10/2015 It's been a busy two weeks, firstly a few days in the London studio, then some time away, then back to the album for the majority of this week. It's been productive! More stuff to tell and celebrate too, so lets get started :D
Firstly, I'd like to say a huge thanks to all my followers on Newgrounds for reaching 100 Fans on the Jabun Newgrounds page! It means a lot to have so many people listening and watching, and the feedback and reviews I see are really nice to read. Thanks to all of you for taking Jabun to the big triple digits! I hope to exceed your expectations with the next upload! Next, some more updates on the Better Than The Book Album! After some fantastic feedback in a review session from the album's beta testing team (and a few suggested tweaks), "Hearts Racing" was labelled complete! Since then, using the finished "Hearts Racing" as a suitable reference, I've finished mixing another 2 tracks, bringing the total to 3! 3 tracks done, 6 to go. Still a lot of work left to do, but it's certainly getting there! A huge thanks again to the beta team for all their feedback and suggestions. This album couldn't be complete without your contribution :D Lastly, and rather peculiarly, I recently won a drum competition on GAK's Facebook Page! The contest was simply to caption a picture, and their favorite entry would be sent some mystery Wincent Drumsticks Prizes! It was great to receive some light maple sticks (in contrast to my usual heavy pair), metal brushes and some hickory chips for the BBQ, though I'm not sure when I'll be able to use them properly in the near future as I lack the necessary apparatus. Surely this must be a sign that it's time to get my own drum kit!? Perhaps when I have more studio space XD Still, those sticks/brushes will make for some awesome sound design tools! Big thanks to GAK and Wincent Drumsticks for all the prizes! I look forward to putting them to good use soon :D That's it for this week! Not sure what's going on next week, so it could be more London, or more BTTB. We shall see! Until then, hope you have a happy/spooky Halloween, eat sweets and watch horror movies responsibly (if you're into those things), and I shall see you next week! Thanks for supporting JabunAudio and take care!

It's been a busy Better Than The Book related week! Not a lot to share word-wise, but the few things I have are pretty big updates! Let's get started :D
Firstly, all the lead vocals for the album (Including the rap stuff) are finally finished! That just leaves some backing vocals and extra things in just track 07 to do. It's probably still quite a lot left to do, but I recon the hardest part is over. Such is the nature of collaborative work! Next, I've started on the mixes for the album, and this week I sent off the first track mix to my beta testing team for review! So far, lots of positive and awesome feedback so it looks like that might be the first mix finished for the album (Just waiting for a few more people's feedback before I make a final decision)! 1 down 8 to go! I'm very pleased with the way it turned out, and judging by the comments I've received so far, it looks like this album will be my best musical work so far! Soo exciting to share this with you all! Big thanks to everyone in the team for their feedback and effort this week! Aaaand... that's it for this week. As I said, not a lot to say, but it's certainly been an exciting few days! Next week is set to be another one in London, and then I'm away for the weekend, so there probably won't be an update next week (if there is, it definitely won't be in the weekend). In which case hope you all have a good 2 weeks and thanks for reading and supporting JabunAudio! Hope you're all stoked for the new album, and take care :D New Track "A P O T H E O S I S - Trailer Music", a busy week in London + BTTB back on track!10/10/2015
It's been a very busy week working at the London voice over studio, so not much direct progress on music stuff, though there are a few cool updates I'd love to share! Let's get started:
Firstly, I finished the trailer music for A P O T H E O S I S which you can listen to below! Crazy to think it's been 8 months since I was working on music for the game... Progress seems to be going well though and the game's creator Lars expects to release a trailer in the near future! I'll be sharing that as and when. It's nice to be working on some cinematic stuff again! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it:
Next are just a few updates on the new Better Than The Book Album: Bob's recording problems have been solved (which is a lifesaver!), so we're back on track! The lead vocals for his verse are now finished and we're just piecing together the backing vocals at the moment. Sounds like he'll be busy at work too though so we're still not sure when it'll all be finished. I shall keep you all posted. I'll be starting on my rap vocals soon too. Exciting times!
That's about it for this week. I'm back in my home studio next week, so I hope to make some progress on BTTB. Until then, hope you enjoy the new track, take care, and thanks for supporting JabunAudio! Some Disruption, Web Updates, an Awesome video from World Beyond "Ex Machina" and other news!1/10/2015 This week has been a little disrupted as the house is having a lot of the inside doors replaced (including the door to my studio), which means there's been a fair amount of noise for most of the week and I've had to move to the kitchen to work during the construction. As such, there's not been a lot of opportunity for audio work, but I've been able to make some progress during the evenings, and the days have been appropriate for web updates, marketing and work such as this blog. Still a few updates to tell though, so I figured I'd share them early since I can't get stuck in with mixing/mastering right now (good opportunity for composition though :D) Lets get started! First thing on this weeks list: I don't know why it's taken so long, but I'm delighted to finally introduce Anthony G. Houde to the JabunAudio partners page! For those of you who don't know, Anthony is the amazing mastermind behind Fun Station 4 Kids and voice of our beloved T-Rex. I've been working with Anthony for... gosh, over 2 years now, so it's about time he get some dedicated space on this website! Check out Fun Station 4 Kids on YouTube, and visit Anthony's website to find out more about his work. You will not be disappointed! Next, I'd like to share an awesome video that Vlad from World Beyond released this week featuring one of his latest compositions "Ex Machina"! The music is a tribute to PACIFIC RIM, featuring footage from the film in the excellently put together video! You can purchase the track from Bandcamp if you so desire! Here's the YouTube Vid below too! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Excellent job, Vlad! Next on this week, I've been working on a new short track for A P O T H E O S I S in preparation for the release of the game's trailer! First draft of the composition is done (It's sort of a remix of everything so far, but more trailery), so just awaiting feedback on that before mixing and mastering time :D Hope to have it out soon!
Last of this weeks events, though it's kind of a non-update: No progress on Better Than The Book this week as we've run into some problems with Bob's recording equipment, which means recording on his end for track 07 is currently at a standstill until we're able to fix it... (+ I've been unable to record vocals due to the construction work on my end). I'm going to try to work on some of the "in the box" elements of the track while we sort out the recording problems, but hopefully we'll be back on track soon. One more thing! I've been thinking about getting back into YouTube and trying to up my social media reach. Is there anything that people would like to see from my channels or social media feeds? Suggestions appreciated, or I'll just go my own way and see what happens XD That's it for this week! Hopefully I'll have more news next week and even something to show :D Until then. Thanks for supporting JabunAudio and hope you all have good weeks! Take care :D |
